MAPS (Maine-Aomori Printmaking Society) is an exhibition of prints by artists from Maine and Aomori, Japan, presented by Friends of Aomori, the non-profit organization that supports the Sister City relationship between the two states. MAPS is a multi-tiered exchange project developed to share prints, exhibitions, and artist residencies between Maine and Aomori on an ongoing basis. The first phase of MAPS was an exhibition at the Aomori Municipal Art Pavilion in Japan by ten artists from Maine in October 2015, with an exhibition held at SPACE Gallery in Portland, Maine, in March 2016.
In 2016, MAPS became an annual international exhibition between contemporary Maine and Aomori artists, hosted cross-culturally by Friends of Aomori and the Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum in Aomori City, Japan.
Common Street Arts is pleased to host MAPS in Waterville, Maine. CSA plans to bring this exhibition to our audience virtually through active social media posts, including facebook, instagram, and FB live events + programming. Stay tuned for more details!
MAPS (Maine-Aomori Printmaking Society) is sponsored by Kennebec Savings Bank.
