Ocean Creature Sun Catcher

July 28, 2022

3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Head of Falls, Corner of Front + Temple Streets, Waterville

Celebrate ocean animals! Pay homage to your favorite sea creature by creating a colorful tissue paper sun catcher. This art-making technique mimics the beautiful, light catching, qualities of stained glass. A joyful artform for all ages, your creation will be the perfect way to brighten your favorite space.

Art in the Park is back! Once again, Waterville Creates has joined forces with the Waterville Public Library and the Colby College Museum of Art to offer dynamic, creative summer programming to provide arts experiences for all. This season will kick off with a new summer reading series and will have lots of engaging arts activities each week. Special guests will include practicing artists, Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, Children’s Discovery Museum, local musicians, and area teachers!

Each Thursday participants at Art in the Park will create works based on a book or community theme. Watch a “how to” project demonstration, then make your own creation at Head of Falls, the large, open, green space located in downtown Waterville adjacent to the historic Kennebec River.

Each week, a book will be read aloud to participants as they build and create. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening and creating. This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience.

Thank you to our Art in the Park sponsors, Colby Arts & Humanities, Kennebec Savings Bank, and Pro Moving Service.

We will reschedule or cancel in the event of rain.
