Join us to celebrate the opening of our 2023 Senior Exhibition featuring works by graduating Colby studio art majors.
This annual exhibition offers students the opportunity to exhibit their work and participate in the museum’s exhibition process from start to finish, representing the culminating capstone projects of their studies in painting, photography, print and digital media, or sculpture.
The program will open with brief remarks, followed by an awards ceremony at 5:15 pm. The Colby Art Department awards two prizes to Studio Art majors at the end of each academic year: The Charles Hovey Pepper Prize, and the President’s Purchase Prize. A panel of specialists in the field selects the recipient from among the students represented in the Senior Exhibition.
This year’s contributing seniors are Mary Bevilacqua, Muna Brown, Erin Coughlin, Kimkim Dang, Libby Johnson, Kayla Merriweather, Chauncey Morgan, Carrie Nguyen, Burr Rhoads, Altie Rogers, Amy Schubert, Sydney Tobia, and Wendy Wei.
Be sure to pick up a copy of the free exhibition catalog. The color publication is a collaboration between Studio Art and Art History students: it contains reproductions of the works in the show, artists’ statements, and critical essays by students enrolled in AR356 Writing Art Criticism, including Molly George, Gwendolen Huo, Anna Jaubert, Hae-Jung Kim, Sam Schultz, and Katherine Zhang.
