Waterville, Maine — Waterville Creates!, one of Maine’s leading arts and cultural organizations and a key driver in making the city a vibrant destination in central Maine, has named Patricia King, Associate Director of the Colby College Museum of Art, interim executive director of Waterville Creates! as of July 5. As interim executive director, Patricia will help guide and coordinate the efforts of Waterville Creates! as it works toward building a brighter future for the arts in greater Waterville. Plans are underway to have a full time executive director in place by September.
Patricia King currently serves as the associate director for the Colby College Museum of Art. For the past twenty five years she has been employed with academic and museum institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA. Her experience includes work in strategic and organizational planning, administration, collections, website management, budget planning, publications, marketing, development, technology, and curatorial areas. She has served as a peer reviewer for the American Alliance of Museums and currently serves on the board of directors for Waterville Creates! and as chair for its Development Committee and its programmatic arm, Common Street Arts. Patricia is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and attended the Getty Leadership Program at Claremont Graduate University.
“With her deeply rooted experience in strategic and organizational planning for the arts, Patricia was a natural fit for this important transitional role at Waterville Creates!,” said board Chair Larry Sterrs. “As we continue to take our organization to the next level, Patricia has the skills and connections needed to build on the solid foundation we’ve established. As a highly involved member of the Waterville Creates! board, there is no ramp up time to get Patricia up to speed – another huge benefit to having her step in during this transitional period.”
