Here’s that rarest of chances to catch a "neglected masterpiece...[which] should have become an instant classic–of American Jewish cinema, of gangster movies, of film comedy, and of bold creativity on a low budget”–(Richard Brody,
The New Yorker) in, amazingly a NEW 35mm print! Director Michael Roemer, who wowed audiences at MIFF last year with
Vengeance is Mine, which star Brooke Adams introduced, created a true work of American indie cinema of the ‘90s in
The Plot Against Harry. A small-time Jewish racketeer, just out of prison, returns to his old neighborhood, only to find that the streets that he and his friends once controlled have now been taken over by Blacks and Hispanics. On top of that, he must try to get back with his family, who want nothing to do with him, of course!
