A woman poses in Adolf Hitler's bathtub, the bathmat deliberately muddied by her combat boots. Lee follows the journey of Lee Miller (played by Oscar-winner Kate Winslet), a fashion model who worked for British Vogue during World War II as a wartime photographer. Belittled by her male counterparts and restricted in her duties simply because she was a woman, Lee forged ahead as she captured photos of the Blitz, was embedded in American forces, and was one of the first to photograph the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps. Winslet is a knockout, and the renowned cinematographer and 2004 MIFF special guest Ellen Kuras directs this terrific film. "Lee is beautiful, daring, and elusive, as all great art should be. It’s a fitting tribute to a woman whose work exhibited the same qualities."—Andy Howell, Film Threat.
