In her last summer before entering the Peace Corps, Frances "Baby" Houseman finds herself stuck at the less-than-exciting Kellerman Resort with her family. As she explores the resort, Baby is drawn to Johnny Castle, a mysterious and alluring dance instructor. Invited to a secret staff party by Johnny's cousin, Baby is introduced to the world of the raunchy, rock 'n' roll life of dirty dancing. When Johnny's pregnant dance partner is unable to perform in the end-of-season hotel dance performance, Baby volunteers to train as Johnny's partner. Navigating class differences and Baby's disapproving parents, Johnny teaches her to dance as feelings begin to stir between them. Nobody puts Baby in a corner!
