Based on his best-selling memoir of the same name, director Bill Bennett's autobiographical film
The Way, My Way tells the story of his 8,000 kilometer trek along the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James), a famous pilgrimage route in Spain. After observing pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago while on vacation, Bennett realizes his own life lacks meaning and purpose like the pilgrims seem to have; so, despite not knowing exactly why he's doing it, Bennett decides to walk the Camino de Santiago himself. As the cranky but comforting Bennett (portrayed in the film by actor Chris Haywood) journeys across Spain and interacts with other pilgrims, he realizes that the meaning he's searching for may be right in front of him. “Softly inquisitive, life-affirming”—Luke Buckmaster,
The Guardian.
