Presented by Common Street Arts April 11 – May 19, 2018
Waterville, Maine — Common Street Arts, the programmatic arm of Waterville Creates!, is pleased to present Side by Side: new work by cassie jones + will sears, an exhibition celebrating the work of two contemporary Maine artists at Common Street Arts from April 11 – May 19, 2018. An opening reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00pm.
This exhibition will feature work by two contemporary Maine artists–each with a distinct and compelling approach to color and form. Cassie Jones’ work explores her interest in the natural world leaving the viewer to ponder the complexities of nature as part of the visual experience. Will Sears’ assemblages are inspired by his interests with graffiti, sculpture, and his work as a sign painter. Sears’ recent work involves sawing his own hand-painted, pre-weathered wooden signs into pieces and reassembling into abstract patterns–taking the viewer on a unique graphic journey through the 20th and 21st centuries. Each week has different programs and activities taking place in the gallery designed to encourage creative expression and exploration; for a complete list of the scheduled projects and programs, visit www.commonstreetarts.org
