Stanley Kubrick’s visionary three-part epic is the sci-fi film all other sci-fi films have to at least think about measuring up to. From “The Dawn of Man” to the reaches of human knowledge and the future, it remains, 56 years later, a truly ambitious, optimistic vision of humanity’s past, present, and future. Originally presented in curved-screen Cinerama, 2001 will be shown at MFC in a stunning 4k DCP version that preserves Kubrick’s perfectionistic vision.
