After School Art Club
Kids ages 8-12 are invited to dive into the world of art in these dynamic and engaging after school sessions. Young creators will explore the wonders of clay, 3D printing, and so much more!
Cost: $16 (Price includes a $1 per ticket handling fee.)
Age: 8-12
Limit: 15 participants
These classes are eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund.
We follow the Waterville Public Schools’ weather cancellation policy.
  
January 23 – Plaster Sculpture Part 1 
In this class, kids will create a one-of-a-kind plaster sculpture of themselves! Through a fun, multi-step process using plaster strips, wire, and paper cups, they'll assemble their sculpture, which will be ready to dry and paint in Part 2. 
January 30 – Plaster Sculpture Part 2 
In Week 2, kids will bring their plaster self-portraits to life, adding vibrant paint and creative details like hair, glasses, and clothing to turn their sculptures into one-of-a-kind masterpieces! 
February 6 – Sneak Peek at Tech Camp!
Get a taste of the action in this session where we’ll choose fun designs from MakerWorld to 3D print and take home. Love it? Kids ages 10–14 can dive deeper during our February vacation Tech Camp, featuring two days of 3D printing and two days of filmmaking. Don’t miss this hands-on preview of what’s in store!
February 13 – HOME
Inspired by the Colby Gallery exhibit Square + Triangle: Home in the Colby Museum’s Collection, this workshop invites kids to think about what home means to them. Using a house-shaped template, they’ll create their own mixed-media artwork that captures their story of HOME.
February 27 – Spun Cotton Animals
Learn the art of spun cotton using wire, cotton balls, and a simple mixture of glue and water to create these adorable mouse sculptures.
Mar 6 – Youth Art Month: Healing Through Color 
Celebrate the visual arts with this year’s inspiring Youth Art Month theme, Healing Through Color. In this session, kids will discover how color can uplift, rejuvenate, and restore in countless ways. Join us for a creative and vibrant journey into the transformative power of color!
March 13 – Clay Play Part 1
Roll up your sleeves and try your hand at throwing on the potter’s wheel in the Art of Clay Studio! Learn the fundamentals of centering and pulling clay to create a functional bowl perfect for your favorite treats.
March 20 – Clay Play Part 2
Add brightly colored glaze and surface design to clay pieces thrown last week. 
March 27 – Animal Fabric Collage
Create a colorful fish and underwater scene using various scraps of fabric. Shape, color, and texture will be the focus of this fun fishy piece!
