An undeniable cult classic, American Movie is a documentary about...well, an American movie. We follow aspiring director Mark Borchardt, along with his bumblingly iconic friend Mike Schank, as the two of them attempt to film a low-budget horror movie in rural Wisconsin–for the second time. Despite next to no funding and a less-than-experienced crew, as well as a slew of personal problems, the duo aim to complete their film and use it to garner financing for Mark's next film, a grandiose drama. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the documentary about the heart of independent filmmaking, which Roger Ebert gave 4/4 stars and the San Francisco Chronicle described as "about the American dream, about not giving up, about being true to yourself."
