July 22- Songs and Sounds with Jose Barrionuevo
from the Community Partnership Program
Jose Barrionuevo, a Lunder Institute Residential Fellow, will be the featured guest at this week’s program, sharing his work as an electronic artist and helping participants create their own musical project using the songs and sounds around them. We’ll kick off the music-making experience with Jose at 3 and then again at 4 pm—writing song lyrics and creating music with your voice, body, and simple instruments that you can make at the event!
Book being read by the library: Nighttime Symphony by Timbaland
Barrionuevo is a 2016 graduate of Colby College who now lives in the New York City area; one of the projects he is working on this summer is a new album called Sagrada, centered around spirituality and familial relationships in Mexican culture.
As part of its Art in the Park program, Waterville Creates is joining forces with the Waterville Public Library and the Colby College Museum of Art to create one-of-a-kind summer art journals in collaboration with a free summer reading series. Program guests will include artists, musicians, live cats, teachers, and scientists.
Every Thursday, we’ll create new pages to add to the summer art journals. Journals can be brought back each week, resulting in a fun and distinctive journal that documents your entire summer. In addition, each week a pre-selected book will be read aloud to participants as they construct and design their art journals. Bring a blanket or chair to get comfortable while listening to stories and creating content for your journal.
This program is free and open to all ages and levels of experience. We will reschedule or cancel in the event of rain.
