Have you always wanted to work with clay, but you’re not sure where to start? Have you tried wheel-throwing and it was not for you? We’re offering a class that might be the perfect fit for you! This engaging two-part beginner level class will focus on key hand building techniques that are perfect for the individual who is interested in working with clay but is unsure where to start. In the first class, you will use a slab roller, which works like a rolling pin to create large, flat sheets of clay. Using these sheets as a foundation, you will learn how to construct a vessel like a vase or candle holder. In the second class, students will focus on overglazing: using brushes and sponging techniques to create depth, decoration, and focal points.
First-time clay artists will be given individual attention, while more experienced artists may work at their desired pace. No prior experience required.
