Winner of the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival,
Dìdi (
弟弟) is “the definition of a crowd pleaser. This is a movie that will fill your heart with joy, love, and nostalgia (even if you grew up before Paramore or the early days of Facebook).”—Charles Barfield,
The Playlist. Written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sean Wang,
Dìdi is set in 2008 in the Bay Area and is a funny, irreverent, and affecting ode to first-generation teenagers navigating the joy and chaos of adolescence, as seen through the lens of a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy. We follow outcast Chris Wang (Izaac Wang,
Good Boys and
Raya and the Last Dragon) in the last months of summer before high school. Feeling entirely alone in the world, Chris attempts to figure out who he really is while dealing with supposed friends, crushes, older skaters, and his family.
This film is eligible for the Youth Arts Access Fund.
