Join the Colby College Museum of Art at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center to celebrate the opening of Ashley Bryan/Paula Wilson: Take the World into Your Arms. The evening includes remarks, art-making, music performances, refreshments, and a children’s picture book giveaway. This program is part of the monthly First Friday offerings across downtown Waterville.
Activities:
4–7 pm:
Create your own puppet, inspired by the art in two new exhibitions—Ashley Bryan/Paula Wilson: Take the World into Your Arms on view in the Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art and Youth Art Month (YAM) 2023, on view in the Ticonic Gallery and Greene Block + Studios. The art activity will take place in multiple locations at the art center, led by museum and Waterville Creates staff and volunteers.
Children’s Book Giveaway: Children ages 12 and younger will receive a children’s picture book by award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Bryan. A variety of titles will be available.
5 pm: Exhibition Opening Remarks from Colby College Museum of Art staff and special guests
5:30 pm: Performance by Waterville Senior High School students, led by Ciara Hargrove, Waterville Schools Choral Director. The group will perform at the Greene Block + Studios at 6:30 pm.
