June 14-16 & 19-20, 2022
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
ARC-Hive Collective
Greene Block + Studios, 18 Main Street, Waterville
Join us throughout the week at Greene Block + Studios for a reading group, collective conversation, and snacks. Each short reading focuses on a different facet of the Kennebec River and waterways more broadly. Topics include gender, labor, the effects of colonialism on the River, and ecology. Arrive at 6 PM for an hour of collective reading (all texts will be supplied), followed by an hour conversation about the text. Readings, snacks, and beverages provided.
River Readings is part of “A Glossary of These Waters,” a collaboratively created art event in Waterville, Maine (June 14-21). Throughout the week, we’ll explore the Kennebec River and watershed, focusing on how we can engage and honor the River and her memories, properties, and futures. This week of art and reflective programs, workshops, and activities is the work of the ARC-Hive Collective, a shifting group of Maine-based educators, artists, performers, and archivists.
Designed for ages 15 and up. ADA accessible. RSVP recommended as space is limited; email [email protected] to reserve a space and learn more.

We honor and celebrate the array of identities in our local community and broader communities, including those that are not part of the predominant culture. We hold space on our stage, our screens, and our gallery walls, in our studios, and at our community events and programs to present diverse stories, identities, and lived experiences in real and authentic ways.
