At Rushmore Academy, tenth grader Max Fischer (played by Jason Schwartzman) is an obsessive bespectacled weirdo who has joined almost every single after-school club, but can't keep his grades up past a C. When he develops a crush on a first-grade teacher at the school, Miss Cross (Olivia Williams), and befriends a school benefactor, Mr. Blume (Bill Murray), Max starts to discover what it means to be an adult in love.
