In a near future plagued by climate change and severe overpopulation, the right to parenthood is not a given, but instead earned. In order to have a child, loving couple Mia and Aaryan (Elizabeth Olsen and Himesh Patel) must undergo a strange and mysterious seven-day assessment administered by an unusual assessor named Virginia (Alicia Vikander, Ex Machina). Determined to prove they are worthy of raising a child, the couple's assessment slowly unravels into a psychological nightmare as Virginia employs an increasingly disturbing range of trials and tests that will push them and their relationship to their limits.
