When Railroad Square first opened, it was as a “repertory” movie theater, screening a calendared selection of films from the cinema’s first seven decades. But it soon became apparent that we needed and wanted to show great current films otherwise unavailable anywhere in the area, and often in the entire state. Martin Scorsese’s triumphant film of The Band’s farewell concert, with a who’s who of musical guests including everyone from Joni Mitchell to Bob Dylan, remains the unmatched greatest rock and roll movie ever made (along with STOP MAKING SENSE) in almost everyone’s book.
