“Wondrously inventive, funny and poignant,
WALL•E is part sci-fi adventure, part cautionary fable, part satire, and part love story, which may be the best and most improbable part of all”–
Newsweek.
In the not-so-distant year of 2085, a lone robot named WALL•E roams the empty streets of an over-polluted Earth. His goal? Cleaning up the planet and making it habitable again for humanity. WALL•E's daily routine of collecting interesting knickknacks is interrupted by the arrival of EVE, a scout sent to determine if Earth is ready for humanity’s return. WALL•E and EVE connect and start growing closer until WALL•E’s most recent discovery–a living plant–lands EVE in standby mode.
WALL•E, having begun to fall in love with EVE, stows away on the transport ship that comes to collect her, and together the two travel into the beautiful expanse of space. A hilarious and touching race against time ensues as WALL•E and EVE–aided by a pet cockroach, a gaggle of malfunctioning robots, and a ship captain with big boots to fill–try to prove to everyone that it’s time to come home. The ship’s autopilot AI, however, appears to have grand plans of its own and attempts to stop WALL•E and EVE by any means necessary.
WALL•E, which
The Village Voice called “both breathtakingly majestic and heartbreakingly intimate,” is a timeless comedy for all ages and a hopeful vision of an all-too-likely future. “You leave
WALL•E with a feeling of the rarest kind: that you’ve just enjoyed a close encounter with an enduring classic”–
Rolling Stone.
